The State of Qatar participates in the first meeting of the Executive Committee of the Terrorist Financing Targeting Cente

The State of Qatar participated in the first meeting of the Executive Committee of the Terrorist Financing Targeting Center (TFTC), which was held today in Kuwait, with a high-level delegation from the National Counter-Terrorism and Counterterrorism Financing Committees headed by HE Dr. Mutlaq Bin Majid Al Qahtani, Special Envoy of the Foreign Minister for Combating Terrorism And mediation in dispute settlement.

The meeting discussed constructively and in an interactive and positive dialogue the basic principles of governance within the working framework of the TFTC among the seven members of the Center: Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, and the states United States of America.

The TFTC was established in May 2017 after the Gulf Arab Summit in Riyadh as a cooperative approach to counteract the new and evolving terrorist financing risks.

The Center represents a new and creative response to strengthening tools and drawing up cooperation plans between the United States and its partners in the region to address this threat now and in the future.

The Center aims to suppress the financing of terrorist activities and to take appropriate action by classifying and publicizing individuals and entities that finance terrorist activities and to impose sanctions against them and to share information of common interest relating to terrorist financing networks and coordinate actions such as joint classification or other crackdowns against terrorists and their financing networks , As well as providing expert support to members to assist in capacity-building to combat terrorist financing threats.
